FLAC vs AIFF
| FLAC | AIFF | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Lossless, compressed | Lossless, uncompressed |
| Size (per minute, 44.1 kHz stereo) | ≈ 5–7 MB | ≈ 10.6 MB |
| Tags | Full (Vorbis comments + cover) | Full (ID3 + cover) |
- FLAC and AIFF are both lossless: after conversion the audio samples are bit-identical; only the container changes.
- A 6-minute track: FLAC ≈ 30–42 MB, AIFF ≈ 64 MB.
- Title, artist, album, genre, year, cover art and any existing key tag are carried over to AIFF. If there's no key tag, analyze first; conversion never adds a key on its own.
How to do it
- Choose your FLAC files or folder (or drop them on the record).
- The output format is preset to AIFF; analyze key and BPM first if you like.
- Download: a single file, a ZIP, or straight into a folder in Chrome and Edge.
