WAV vs MP3
| WAV | MP3 | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Lossless, uncompressed | Lossy |
| Size (per minute, 44.1 kHz stereo) | ≈ 10.6 MB | ≈ 2.4 MB |
| Tags | Limited; DJ software reads them partially | Full (ID3 + cover) |
- MP3 is a lossy format: at 320 kbps the difference is inaudible to most ears, but discarded detail can't come back. Keep the original WAV as your archive.
- A 6-minute track: WAV ≈ 64 MB, MP3 ≈ 14 MB.
- Title, artist, album, genre, year, cover art and any existing key tag are carried over to MP3. If there's no key tag, analyze first; conversion never adds a key on its own.
How to do it
- Choose your WAV files or folder (or drop them on the record).
- The output format is preset to MP3; analyze key and BPM first if you like.
- Download: a single file, a ZIP, or straight into a folder in Chrome and Edge.
FAQ
Does converting WAV to MP3 lose quality?
MP3 is lossy, but at 320 kbps the difference is usually inaudible. There's no way back, so keep the original.
Are tags and cover art kept?
Yes. Title, artist, album, cover art and any key tag are carried over to the new file.
Are my files uploaded? Is there a limit?
No. Conversion runs in your browser and your files never leave your computer. There's no limit on file count or size.
